- Our Kindergarten Picnic is coming up soon. On Thursday, May 6 we will walk across the road and down the path to High Bridge Park for our annual picnic. Parents, you are welcome to come join our celebrations. After the picnic is over, we will return to class and I will pass out certificates and prizes to all of the students for working so hard this school year. We hope you can join us!
- We need food donations for the picnic. A sign-up sheet came home...please select something from the list that you can bring (other than chips...we already have several people signed up for that).
- The self-watering seed planters will be coming home this week. Help your child transplant the seedlings from the planter into a large pot or into the ground so the delicious vegetables can continue to grow!
- Pastries for Parents is happening this Friday, May 24th at 8:00 am. All parents, grandparents, and parental figures are invited to join us for coffee and pastries. Our class will be performing two cute songs for the parents, so we hope you can come out.
- Field Day is also coming up next week on May 28th. More information will come home soon about what to bring and what color shirt to wear. We also need volunteers to help man the stations. Let me know if you can.
- Our first annual Poetry Slam is coming! On May 31st, each class in the school will put forth their best poet on stage to recite a rap, rhyme or poem. Our class spent this week working in teams to write poems, and we voted on our favorite poem this morning to learn and recite. Of course, our kiddoes are old pros at reciting poems, since we've been doing it every week since September! We would love for you to come watch us slam some poetry next week. I'll let you know the time as soon as I find out.
- I have added the First Grade Sight Words to our blog, so that you can access them over the summer and help your child begin to memorize, read and write the words.
**NOTE TO PARENTS**: You may want to skip over the ads at the beginning of the news report video...some of them are not kid-friendly!
Thanks, and have a great week everyone.
